Marilyn A. Hewson, Chairman, President and CEO of Lockheed Martin, gave a speech in September 2014.  The speech was meant to motivate and inspire a roomful of fellows for the year that lies ahead.

I watched the speech recently. I was excited enough by the message, I shared it with the directors who report to me. The message that rang through for me was empowerment.  I realized I was empowered to make the impact I wanted to make.

Shortly thereafter, I found myself getting in the elevator on the third floor of the CC building. Taking the elevator with me, was a student who in his words, felt “midterms were getting to him.”  I felt like he was saying “Is this hard work going to be worth it?”

According to the video, collaboration, prioritization and inspiration are the keys to changing the world we live in.  These all sound like things MSOE students learn and breathe every day – even after graduation.  Let me know what you think because I do see each and every one of you as the catalyst for the future.
