    MILWAUKEE AREA Math and English Project Tutor

    Position Description
    Under supervision of the Student Services Specialist and the Academic Lead, Pre-college Enrichment Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) Project Tutors:
    • Provide Math and English tutoring, academic enrichment, guidance on college readiness, and mentorship to PEOPLE pre-college students at designated Academic Center for Enrichment (ACE) sites in Milwaukee public schools.
    • Advise PEOPLE staff and complete Information Sharing Forms (ISF) to communicate any student needs, issues or concerns as needed.
    • Document all communications with teachers, guidance counselors, other school personnel members or contact parties, parents, and students in the student’s onsite file.
    • Remain informed regarding programming announcements and updates.

    Some weekend work may be required for special events and PEOPLE cohort meetings. Must attend all project orientation and training sessions. Must satisfy a criminal background check, successfully complete an I-9, and complete Executive Order 54 Child Abuse and Neglect training before beginning the position.

    Minimum Position Requirements

    1. Sophomore, juniors and seniors level college students with experience working with school age students of diverse backgrounds preferred.
    2. Must be available to tutor on one or more of the following days/time: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday from 3:00 – 6:00 pm
    3. Demonstrated proficiency and ability to tutor students in at least one of the core subjects – Math and English – required.

    We are currently hiring for the following sites and times:
    Ronald Reagan High School: 2:30pm - 5:45pm   
                Hamilton/Audubon High School: 3:45pm - 6pm
    Rufus King High School: 2:30pm - 5pm               
            Marshall High School: 3:45pm - 6pm
