If you have ever been on a long drive at night when you’re tired, you’ve probably tried a number of ways to stay alert. You also know that you have to avoid certain things that would contribute to feeling drowsy. You have to challenge yourself to make your task (driving) as interesting as possible. Too much is at stake to let “white line fever” take over. Well, something similar can happen in the classroom. There may be times when you find yourself not as engaged as you need to be to truly learn the material. If that happens, you need to take control.
