I was at Menards the other day and I always wondered why they keep the showroom lights (the lamps, ceiling lights, chandeliers) on all of the time. I think that it is a terrible waste of electricity and supplies (light bulbs, outlets, extension cords, etc). So my thought here is for an Electrical Engineer (or anyone else interested) to team up with Menards and create a switch board that allows customers to test out the light of their choice. I think this would improve energy consumption and waste because all of the lights would be off most of the time. The switch board would have to be easy to add and easy removal of the plugs from the system because the people at Menards would be limited on what they can actually do with operating the system.
Any further ideas?
