Troop Cafe: Hiring Vets & Making a Difference

    Lena Scheibengraber

If you don't often drive west on Wisconsin Avenue from MSOE, you may not have noticed this great veteran-serving nonprofit housed on 35th street. The mission of Troop Cafe is "To serve the community by offering affordable, high quality meals to the public, while providing job skills training for military veterans with barriers to employment."

The cafe is staffed by U.S. veterans, as well as their partners in the non-profit community, which they have made into a vocational training program in a real world environment. Their ultimate goal? To build a stable community business that uses all of its profits to fund its own growth & to create multiple cafes across the country to provide employment opportunities for any U.S. military veterans that have the will to help themselves.
