Parents can stick around after move in, sessions are held about safety and what parents should know, you can find where and when here http://www.msoe.edu/community/campus-life/page/2481/welcome-week
Usually housing tries their hardest to pair a freshmen up with a freshmen, but there might be some cases when a freshman and a sophomore might be paired up together as roommates.
Once you move your son/daughter in there are a variety of things to do on campus if you wish to stay. We have a trolley running a loop to highlight area attractions; restaurants, stores, banks, etc... The route is roughly 20 minutes so its a nice way to see the campus and beyond.
Also as Kelly-Ann mentioned there will be info sessions held at 1:30pm and 2:30pm that we encourage parents to attend.
However - if you chose not to stick around we have a lot of fun planned for the students; welcome dinner for all the students, ice skating on Saturday night and more!
Yes, parents often stick around. Each year there is also a family weekend in October to come spend time on campus.
